Resident Engineer    Fulton Engineering, Inc. January 2012 – Present   Greater Denver Area

Multiple responsibilities on this project, worked both as the Resident Engineer and also provided Inspection duties. Gathered daily productions reports from the other inspector and tabbed all units placed to create reports. Provided clean set of redlines and asbuilts. Signed all units agreed to with the construction project manager, sent in the required paper work to the main office to generate the 521 forms as this was as ARRA project. Responsible for making design changes t on project if and where needed. Numerous other responsibilities as well.

Contract Osp Engineer:      Engineering Associates    March 2011 – September 2011    Sherwood, Or

Aerial make ready, pole inventory. Building entrances, road moves. NESC , RUS. Field staked a new conduit project for future FTTH along a rural route all units were RUS. Road Moves.

Engineering Manager:       Canby Telephone Association           Canby, Or    2009- 2010

Responsible for all outside plant engineering and design for the Canby exchange.

Managed three company reports and one contractor. The contractor was there for a short term project.

Staked and designed new fiber for selected areas. Introduced new technology, Maxcell, & seven way future path and micro fiber where feasible. Specifications of equipment, including but not the FDF and pig tails to the pothead splice.

 

Handled multiple projects ongoing at the same time. Created and maintained good working relationships with the cities, counties and state departments. Developed and maintained working relations with various vendors. Obtained all required easements & permits for new construction. Engineered fiber to an existing cell site and work with multiple stakeholders and property owners. Started the planning process to provide fiber to all cell sites with the serving area.

 

Field staked the projects and Prepared , materials lists & cost estimates for all projects  & completed work order package for construction. Reviewed contractor invoices and approve them. Created a new three to five year plan for future growth and problem areas. Worked on training 2 of my reports to learn field staking and engineering requirements while doing projects.

 

Responsible for Capex budget creation, monitoring and tracking all work orders & projects to ensure they were within budgeted amount. Had work order approval authority up to $25K. Reworked and priced out 23 miles of buried fiber for a stimulus proposal.

Had work order approval authority up to $25K. Introduced new technologies to maximize capital budget and prepare for future

Expansion.

 

Designed a new large subdivision development with fiber to the home. Specifications of equipment, including but not limited too the fiber cross connect, fiber sizing for present and future , splice cases, manholes and hand holes where feasible. Handled multiple projects ongoing at the same time. Engineered new road moves working with the state and county depending on who was involved in the projects. Attended pre construction meetings. Created and maintained good working relationships with the cities, counties and state departments. Developed and maintained working relations with various vendors. Obtained all required easements & permits for new remote sites, road moves, plant upgrades and as needed. Engineered three new fiber fed remote sites using Occam BLC cabinets. This provided fiber to the home capability in the area as well as shortening the copper loop lengths. There was very little aerial cable in the Yelm exchange. I also covered the Ellensburg exchange with the same responsibilities’.

Worked on premise at PTI. Inspected assigned construction crew. Both rural and city work was done under this contract. It covered both buried copper and aerial copper. This was also REA/RUS work. Ensured all units were placed as shown on engineers prints and that all work was done in a safe manor. Enforced all depth requirements and all other work was done to clients specifications. Provided redlines and asbuilts on a weekly basis. Maintained a good working relationship with the city and county representatives.

Worked off premise in local branch office for an independent phone company. Staked projects associated with a five fiber ring upgrade. The staking took place in the fall and winter .In the summer I did inspection on other engineers projects.              As this project was being done under a federal loan all REA/RUS specifications were followed and enforced.

 

Conducted testing of all new cable after shipment arrived and recorded results. Provided relines and asbuilts on a weekly basis. Once cable was place tested it again and then talked and tested every pair and recorded results.              During a slow period of time went to Iowa and worked on premise at GTE doing routine and project work. Also conducted a 911 Audit in the field to match records. This lasted about three months and then returned back to project and stayed until completed.
